Kevin Raney was a Corporal in the Marine Corps when he was last seen entering the trailer of a girl he had recently fell in love with in Shelby County, Tennessee on December 19, 1988. Kevin Raney was stationed at Air Station Yuma in Arizona and was training at a Navy Base in Millington, Tennessee when he fell in love with a dancer at a popular local strip club called the “Brass Rail”. On December 19, 1988, Kevin Raney had gone to the trailer park where the dancer lived to pick her up. Kevin Raney met the boyfriend of the dancer at the trailer who asked Kevin to come inside. Kevin has not been seen or heard from since.
Kevin Raney’s car was found a few days later in the parking lot of a Walmart located behind the trailer park. The police found bloodstains in the car that were the same blood type as Kevin Raney’s blood, but since DNA testing was not available at the time they were unable to confirm that it was blood from Kevin Raney. Police later found that the boyfriend of the dancer had some of Kevin Raney’s personal items in his possession to include Kevin’s boots, his watch, scuba gear. The dancer’s boyfriend also started to give her gifts that Kevin Raney had apparently already purchased and had planned to give to her himself.
The U.S.M.C. lists Kevin Raney as a deserter and since no body has ever been recovered, the Attorney General’s Office said they would not prosecute. It s believed that Kevin Raney was murdered. In 2005, a suspect had been identified and as the Attorney General’s Office was preparing to prosecute, the suspect died unexpectedly.
Kevin Raney was 25 years old at the time he went missing in 1988. Kevin Raney has black hair, brown eyes and wears prescription glasses.
