Newton Whidden is an 85 year old World War II Veteran who went missing on August 20, 2012 and was last seen at a Sarasota, Florida pharmacy. On August 21, 2012, Newton’s daughter arrived at his home at approximately 6:11 PM and noticed he was not home. She attempted to cal his cell phone and it rang, but she later learned that he had left it at a pharmacy on August 20, 2012 around 2 PM.
Newton Whidden was travelling in a 2000 White Dodge Caravan with the Florida License Plate A183XI the day he disappeared. On August 23, 2012, the Okeechobee County Sheriffs Office recovered the vehicle when they located it stuck on NE 96th Avenue unoccupied. The vehicle was recovered about 100 miles from where he was last seen at the pharmacy.
Newton Whidden is considered very physically fit, especially for his age. He has short gray or partially gray hair and hazel eyes. Newton is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. His right pinky finger is deformed. Newton Whidden was last seen wearing a plaid long sleeved shirt and tan slacks.
