Michael Raymond Reeder

michael_r_reeder_05Michael Raymond Reeder is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who was last seen on April 4, 2014 in Escondido, California at a Wells Fargo Bank located about a block from his home.  Michael Reeder served in Desert Storm and suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  He enjoys spending time outdoors and also became involved in boxing and jiu-jitsu about a year before he went missing.  A few months prior to his disappearance, Michael started to become angry and paranoid.

Michael Reeder kept in touch with his mother via text message or skype (video chat) several times a week if not daily.  On April 8, 2014 after not hearing from her son for a few days, Michael’s mother contacted Michael’s landlord who did not have much information to provide about the status of Michael. She waited a few days and filed a missing persons report with the San Diego County Sheriffs Office on April 11, 2014.

michael_r_reeder_06Michael Reeder’s vehicle was found by California Highway Patrol (CHP) parked in a secluded area on Oakvale Road and the CHP placed a 72 hour hold on the vehicle.  Oakvale Road parallels the southern end of Lake Wohlford in Escondido, California (as shown in the image).   Friends of Michael Reeder have mentioned that he has been known to spend time in the area where his car was located. On Friday, April 11, 2014, Search and Rescue searched the area with approximately 20 personnel and the search was suspended at sunset. On April 12, 2014, Search and Rescue had approximately 80 personnel, including K9s, mounted, and the Sheriff’s Dive Team searching the area in and around Lake Wohlford. Other agencies assisting the search effort included the Lake Wohlford Rangers, USBP BORSTAR, and Red Cross. The search for Michael Raymond Reeder in the Lake Wholford area came up empty and he has not been seen or heard from since.

Michael Raymond Reeder was 43 years old at the time he went missing in 2014.  Michael Raymond Reeder is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 230 to 240 pounds.  Michael Reeder has several scars on his legs and arms from previous injuries.  Michael has a tattoo on each arm to include the text “U.S.M.C.” in black ink on his left bicep and a black raven (bird) on his right bicep.
