Updated October 8, 2015: The search for Alvin Shannon has ended. Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Mr. Shannon has been located in NC and found to be in good health. MCSO thanks everyone for sharing his information and their assistance with finding Mr. Shannon.

SEARCH_ENDEDAlvin Shannon is a U.S. Military Veteran who was last seen on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Bennettsville, South Carolina. Alvin Shannon was at the Dollar Tree in the Walmart Parking lot at Bennettsville Square, Bennettsville, SC 29512 when he was seen leaving in his 2009 Dark Gray Honda Accord with a South Carolina Veterans Tag V27243.  After exiting the parking lot, Alvin Shannon turned on Hwy 9 back towards Bennettsville.  Alvin Shannon has medical conditions which may affect his cognitive abilities.

Law enforcement believes that after speaking with witnesses who spoke with Alvin Shannon after he left the Dollar Tree, he may have wrecked his vehicle in the Wallace Area of Marlboro County, South Carolina.  Search efforts are focusing on the area around Hickory Grove Rd and across Wallace to areas near Hatcher Hill Rd.  Several organizations are involved in the search effort as of October 6 such as the Marlboro County Sheriffs Office, Wallace Search and Rescue, and the Department of Natural Resources.

Alvin Shannon is 71 years old as of the date he went missing in October 2015.  Alvin Shannon has graying hair, possibly a gray beard and mustache (photo below) and brown eyes
