It was confirmed on May 15, 2016, that the body of Mr. Schoaf was recovered from the Rock River in Hillsdale on Monday, May 9, 2016. The Schoaf family shared the following on May 15, 2016: “The Schoaf family would like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who posted and shared in an effort to help bring Chuck home. This was not the ending we had hoped for. We would also like to thank all of the law enforcement agencies that came together to help find Chuck, especially the Morrison Police Department and their chief of police Brian Melton. Your compassion, respect, and never ending hard work will never be forgotten.“.
Chuck Schoaf is a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran who was last seen at his home in Morrison, Illinois on the night of December 26, 2015. A missing person report was filed by family with the Morrison Police Department on December 28, 2015. Chuck Schoaf’s vehicle, a blue in color 2005 Saturn Ion with Illinois License Plate KAS 36, was located in the evening of December 28 on Route 92 just east of Rock River Bridge outside of Joslin, Illinois. Chuck Schoaf’s wallet and cell phone were located in the vehicle.
