Daniel Newberg is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who was last seen in the Neuse River in North Carolina on April 3, 2o15. Daniel Newberg was camping at Flanners Beach in Craven County, North Carolina when he and his fiancée took an inflatable raft out into the Neuse River to check crab pots. While checking on a crab pot with his fiancée, Christina Nickerson, Daniel Newberg accidentally dropped an oar into the water. When Daniel Newberg reached in to retrieve the oar, the raft capsized. Neither Daniel Newberg or Christina Nickerson were wearing life jackets and the wind and waves made it difficult for them to get to shore quickly. Christina Nickerson ultimately made it to shore in Pamlico County, about two miles away. Daniel Newberg has not yet been seen or heard from.
Daniel Newberg was 28 years old when he went missing in 2015. Daniel Newberg was prevously stationed at Cherry Point with the Marine Corps.
