David Lee Hawkins

Updated May 21, 2015: The search for David Lee Hawkins has ended.  Today, officials stated [link] that Fort Sill firefighters and an Oklahoma Highway Patrol water rescue team recovered the body of SSG Hawkins at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday May 21, 2015.  RIP Staff Sergeant.

SEARCH_ENDEDDavid Lee Hawkins is a 32 year old Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army who went missing after the car he was driving was swept into the river near Fort Sill, Oklahoma’s Four-Mile Crossing in the afternoon of Sunday May 17, 2015.  The vehicle that SSG David Lee Hawkins was driving was recovered by search crews after being found submerged in Medicine Bluff Creek after it was swept off a low water crossing.  Rescuers used an M88 Recovery Vehicle to pull the car from the creek and found that the driver was not inside.
