“Mayor Wilda Diaz and acting Deputy Chief Larry Cattano on behalf of the entire Perth Amboy Police Department would like to thank the public for the tireless efforts put forth in our attempt to locate Mr. Moises Torres who had been reported missing on February 22nd. Unfortunately, a body discovered last evening outside of Perth Amboy was positively identified as Mr. Torres. As more details become available they will be released through media outlets. Please join my department and our entire community in our thoughts and prayers for the Torres family in this difficult time.”
Moises Torres Sr. is an 80 year old U.S. Army Veteran who went missing around 1:45 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2015, after leaving the Triple Joy Deli at 317 Hall Ave, Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Moises Torres Jr. was last seen exiting the store and heading east on Hall Avenue. Police say he may have been heading to C-Town on Maple Street. They say he was last seen around the area of 371 Eagle Avenue.
Moises Torres Sr., a native of Puerto Rico, is hard of hearing and suffers from dementia. His family says he is in good shape for a man his age because he exercises regularly and walks often. Moises was last seen wearing a tan baseball cap, blue denim jacket with a wool lining, blue jeans and black boots.
Perth Amboy Police are continuing to follow up on all available leads and are actively checking surveillance videos from stores and residences in the area.
