Derrick Jeffries is a U.S. Army National Guard Soldier who went missing on April 19, 2016 at around 5:00 p.m. while swimming in the water near Manhattan Beach, California. Derrick Jeffries was swimming about 50 feet out in the water near the 1800 block of The Strand when he disappeared. When friends noticed he did not reappear, they contacted the lifeguards. A search of the land and water was initiated immediately upon reporting the disappearance of Derrick Jeffries. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the condition of the surf on the day that Derrick Jeffries went missing was 3 to 5 feet with strong lateral current and strong rip currents.
Derrick Jeffries is 25 years old as of the date he went missing in April, 2016.
